#5- Spectroscopies for battery materials

Spectroscopies for battery materials

January 16 to 20, 2023 - ICMCB BORDEAUX

16 PhD students participated in the fifth DESTINY Training School, held from January 16th to 20th, 2023 at the Institute of Condensed Matter Chemistry of Bordeaux (ICMCB).

This training provided a general theoretical and practical knowledge of the foundations of several spectroscopic methods, including NMR, Mössbauer, Raman, X-ray photoelectron and EPR spectroscopy, with a special focus on their application in the field of battery studies. The instrumental and operational challenges concerning their possible application under in situ conditions have also been presented and discussed. A hands-on practical training session was proposed to the participants for each of these techniques to be carried out by small groups. A specific attention has been devoted to the methods for data analysis and interpretation.

This school was mainly organized by Dany Carlier and Lorenzo Stievano. The DESTINY fellows had the opportunity to attend the lectures of Rémi Dedryvère, Juan Miguel Lopez de Amo, Matthieu Duttine, Moulay Tahar Sougrati and practiced hands-on with Paula Sanz Camacho, Christine Labrugere-Sarroste, and Jacob Olchowka.
